A recent study found that men with advanced prostate cancer may have extended lives when Vitamin D is used in conjunction with docetaxel (Taxotere). Toxicity of using a new high-dose calcitriol (DN-101) pill with docetaxel was no different than the use of docetaxel alone. The study was conducted on 250 patients at 48 different sites across the United States. Men receiving the calcitriol lived an average of 7.1 months longer than men who only took docetaxel. Another study found that men who have more exposure to sunlight were less likely to develop prostate cancer. By Ellie Kuykendall |
