More than 1.2 million people will receive a diagnosis of cancer in 2006. Yet less than 3% of these people are expected to enroll in clinical trials. The lack of participation by American adults has a negative impact on the trials because it lengthens the time of the trial. This means that potential new drugs for treating cancer can be months or years slower in receiving approval. Older patients, racial and ethnic minorities and women are critically needed to participate in clinical trials. If you would like to consider joining a trial, visit this site: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/. |
