Consumers looking for the best prices on prescription drugs can take advantage of a new program offered by Niche Prescriptions, which gives users access to a card that provides discounted prices at the pharmacy.
The prescription-drugs discount-card program makes available more than 8,400 drugs at or under $4; more than 47,000 drugs are priced at under $50. The discount program is open to all customers. It doesn't have any income or age restrictions.
Niche Prescriptions President Martin Hadelman says his goal is “to help the uninsured, those consumers with high-deductible health plans, and those with limited health plans that need excellent prescription-drug coverage.”
The prescription-drug discount card is available as a single-, two-party- or family-card plan. Through the company’s Web site, www.nicheprescriptions.com, users can sign up for the program by answering a series of questions. Customer-service help from company representatives is also available.
Prescription drugs available with the prescription card fall under four pricing tiers. Consumers can search on the Web site for their specific prescriptions to determine which tier applies to them. They are: Tier 1: $10 or less Tier 2: $20 or less Tier 3: $50 or less Tier 4: Drugs that don't fall in any of the above tiers. Consumers will receive an average discount of 25% for name-brand drugs or an average discount of 52% for generic drugs.
Hadelman says he believes consumers will be surprised at the amount of money they save and the number of perks the program provides.
“We offer special programs, including a diabetic plan.… It is important to us [that] our customers get the prescription drugs they need at the lowest possible cost.”
The prescription cards are accepted at more than 62,000 pharmacies in the U.S.
